Is this a picture of a holiness man? Is this a picture of a sanctified holy man? Can you tell?

  1. From early days I heard preaching that said the wife (the woman) was the reflection of holiness.

    I believe there is some truth to this. Looking at a man as in the portrait of R. G. Spurling there are no indications of holiness and any holiness is inward, of the heart.

    However when R. G. and Barbara Spurling are pictured there is an outward adornment that indicates holiness.

    The Bride reflects the holiness of the groom and there is outward adornment as well as inward. This is true of Christ and the church and as well the wife toward her husband. He loves her and she submits to him and she is the reflection of this glorious relationship.

  2. If your wife is ugly, does that make her holy? If she is plain, etc. I don’t think your theory holds water. My theory is that back in those days they married plain women because they didn’t want anyone to look at them. Their hearts were not so holy! Then again maybe they didn’t look too spiffy either….
