Jordan Smith…just in case you haven't heard

Acts20.com NEW Acts-Celerate

Jordan Smith, a Lee University student, won The Voice. I have listened to his performances, and they are, without question, among the finest vocal performances I’ve ever heard. (The best vocal performances ever, for me, have been Steve Brock and Colm Wilkinson.)He did Great is Thy Faithfulness on the show; it shot to #1 on iTunes, believe it or not.Lee University is getting serious recognition for it’s vocal performance students. Along with Phil Stacey, several other Lee University groups/soloists have demonstrated superior ability.I have long held that Church of God music programs are the best in the world. As you know, I claim that virtually ALL great worship programs have Church of God DNA somewhere. We were known as The Singing Church in some places because of our joyful singing.

  1. I knew he went to some independent church (at least it wasn’t listed on the COG website). The POINT is that of all the schools he could have chose, he chose Lee.

  2. Phil Stacey was the first one I remember, and he did really well. Then when Clark Beckham doing so well and now, of course, Jordan winning the Voice. It’s gotta be helping Lee’s publicity. In selling Christmas trees this year we had a guy buy a tree from us who’s niece attends Lee. They aren’t COG, and we obviously live in Oregon, so when I asked what took her to Lee he said, the music program.

  3. I haven’t heard the young man, and I am sure he is good or he would not be where he is, but you are right about COG singing. The first I remember knowing that, was in Burlington, NC when I sneaked out of church to find about 50 people outside on the side walk, just there to listening to the music.I noticed it at a couple more churches. As TV came into the picture that slacked off, but the COG has always had GREAT singing, trained or not. ________________Some facts but mostly just my [email protected]/
