One of our former posters is getting remarried in Menton, AL (in Dekalb County) on November 4th. This is not the area where she formerly lived and was active in the COG and she is seeking a minister in the area to marry them. She would prefer a COG minister but the two churches that are closest to their location have not returned her calls. They are having a Western theme (think 1800s) and would love for the pastor to wear jeans & a cowboy hat. If you know of anyone that might be willing to marry them, please let me know & I’ll send her the information. She survived a very abusive marriage but was treated pretty badly by her church when she left and divorced him. She is with a man now that treats her with love and respect.I think this might help her heal from some of the hurt she’s been through if she could find someone that would treat them with love in this situation. They need a local pastor if possible in case a back up plan to the outdoor ceremony is needed. I don’t know what the honorarium is, but she does intend to pay whoever helps them out. Yeah, our families were close. Ray (Paul’s dad) and my dad were buddies and pioneer COG preachers. Ray pastored mostly in Gaston County but he did pastor Wilmington for a few years. Ray Jr. used to comment here regularly. No matter, that is the family I was referring to.I still wish her the best in love and life. God is good! I hope something can be worked out with Sheep dog. Paul Collins is about 86 years old & still a blessing. He was very supportive of our children’s ministry and we had a great crusade at his church back in the day. He pastored Union Rd. COG in Gastonia for many years but has retired. We saw him & Patsie at the Sr Adult thing in TN.Ray is a sweetheart. He was so devastated when he lost his wife, but he has since remarried and has found happiness again. I keep up with him on FB.I hope something can be worked out with Sheepdogandy too.
