This is perhaps just a little tangential, but your post brought it to mind. Not too long ago, I heard a lady who was brought up in the Pentecostal Holiness Church mention the teaching of eagle saints. The reference was to Matthew 24:27-29. Apparently someone was teaching that the eagle saints would go in the rapture, but the carnal Christians just might not make it on that go ’round or something to that effect.
I have never heard of that teaching, but it is interesting. I’ve always heard that eagle thing used to differentiate between victorious and defeated Christians, but never a rapture issue________________
I think Gary is/has done a great deal of research related to finding sources/references for his schooling at Fuller(?). The problem is that what was said (by some) was not what was written, in many cases.

Its in the DNA of our roots. Some branches just grafted themselves into different traditions sooner than others. That said, with the direction many denominations are taking (ie, same sex marriage, ordaining homosexual priest/ministers, Social Justice over the preaching of the Gospel, denying the divinity of Christ, etc), I’m beginning to think there might be a call for the elect to come out and come together.
My wife’s aunt was raised on Big Sand Mountain at the Highway Church of God during the thirties and forties.She married a Church of God preacher and they pastored several congregations over a number of years.Said all that to say this.She believed that the Church of God Cleveland, TN was THE church.She made this known to me in no uncertain terms.
