This young man represents the “forgotten American.” “No man careth for my soul.” There are many Americans who have literally lost it all and they are living in small camps throughout USA. My son Nathan delivered water to this particular camp and I, not only shared Christ with this young man, but also gave him a Bible, which he is holding in his hand. CoG preachers, don’t always worry about getting a special meeting somewhere. Start where you are, and go into the areas where there are people living in tents, setting up small camps because they have lost it all. Share Christ with them. Start bible studies with them. And yes, start an outdoor revival for at least one weeks services. Let’s do something to reach the lost with the gospel of Jesus Christ.
Don’t see many of these camps in Indiana but do find many homeless folks living under bridges or in small campers in warmer weather and then in homeless shelters when the weather turns colder. Many of the shelters have regular church services. I get called in to assess and help those with intellectual disabilities to find jobs and housing.

Very true message
In our area there are several old motels that have been converted into. ” slum apartments” and I have taken food into these places although my family warns me of the danger. There are many opportunities for ministry but in my visits I haven’t seen anyone else trying to solve their problems and so far I only get looks and nods but no threats.
I worked with Union Mission for several years and cause I was an excited pentecostal they would avoid me in the Baptist worship
One time they let me sing as I had been asking. I sang amazing grace w/o instrument to the tune of “house of the rising son” the homeless responded with enthusiasm
They never ask again

Charles, I remember at one Summer Youth Camp at Camp McPherson in Ohio when we had talent day. A little group of guys got together and formed a 5-piece combo. As they announced themselves, the leader of the group said, “We are going to play “Amazing Grace” to the tune of “The House of the Rising Sun.” And play it they did! And without any lyrics whatsoever. It was a blast! Do you remember the Camp McPherson days? I think you do!
There were well over 200 there and. Many rushed forward to sing with me. Those guys needed excitement of Jesus and not the Baptist they usually got
Perhaps you were too emotional for the leadership. They feared that you would take some of their congregation and start your own Union Mission!
That is COG leadership!!
