Very sad to say but I do believe the Charismatic Movement has greatly influenced the modern Pentecostal church in its worship, singing, preaching/teaching, as well now in its doctrine and teachings. Seems to be nothing left but hipe and drama. A new generation has come into being who know nothing about the true power of God, have been totally deceived by the Charismatics and is why they have settled for something far less. There are no longer all night prayer meetings, miracles and healings and no repentance in the altar of prayer. We must have a return to Pentecost.
Seems like its all entertainment and emotion.
I grew up Pentecostal, but after the Charismatic movement started. Honestly, I’ve seen plenty of Pentecostal hype, too (e.g. loud preaching light on substance.) Lots of focus on old-timey Pentecostal style, preaching of healing, without seeing it. Charismatics aren’t alone in having hype. It’s a different style of hype. The Charismatic movement brought in a mixed bag. The WOF movement is part of the Charismatic movement, I suppose, and a lot of doctrinal error has gotten mixed in with that.
In the 1990’s, I went to a house meeting that was a Vineyard church plant, and I saw a lot more in the way of the revelatory spiritual gifts operating among the people than I noticed at the Pentecostal church (in a ‘Holiness’ denomination) I’d been going to or other Pentecostal churches. That is, until the Toronto thing hit and people came in the group praying ‘More, more, more’ which seemed to replace some of the more prophetic stuff that was going on in that group.
Young ministers- some older as well are spending a great deal of their time in the scholastic world of doctrinal differences & what this giant and that giant has to say concerning everything from prosperity to sanctification, prophecy to various types of grace, etc, etc. Yet very little time is spent in prayer & time in the presence of the Lord. They read man written book after book on elementary theology to systemic theology & various dogmas in between; but rarely read the Word with the guidance of the Holy Ghost. PHDs abound, but few have earned a PHD from the University of the Holy Ghost. This is my TWO CENTS, but you will NEVER have a true anointing and soul-saving power until you pay the price on your knees in the presence of the Lord every day & every hour!!!
Say what you want to say, Pentecostal churches are week, no conviction and no power anymore
God is waiting on us to have get His power.
I agree with you
