I saw this on a Facebook forum. The poster said it was a Church of God Evangel report of an interpretation of tongue at a GA. I don't know the year.I have appointed Brother A. J. Tomlinson General Overseer of my people. Obey him in everything according to the Word. Heb. 18:7. Hold my church up and I will hold you up. But I warn you if you do not walk in the light of my church you will walk in the darkness of Babylon. There is one fold and one shepherd. Other sheep I have which are not of this fold. them also I must bring. My sheep will hear my voice and a stranger they will not follow. Be bold. be strong. be separate. Ye cannot fellowship tobacco and snuff, fornication and adultery and live in my fold. Be ye clean and I will be with you. I will never leave nor forsake you. Take heed unto My words. delight thyself also in Me and I will give thee the desires of thing heart.I'm not sure what it means to fellowship tobacco and snuff. But does doing so prevent one from living in the Lord's fold? I also tend to view the verse about other sheep not in the fold to refer to the Gentiles.I got this from a photo, and it looks pretty clear to me that the text said Heb. 18 rather than 13. Maybe it's a typo

Does it say who gave the interpretation?If it is in the Evangel it's before 1923. I would like to know the who, why and when of it.

I guess Dovie (not sure who that is) felt God was saying that AJT was getting in the way of those who wanted to bring tobacco and snuff, fornication and adultery in to the Church of God. Whole lot of issues in that one interpretations; light and darkness - leadership - authority - lifestyle - holiness - church - one fold. I would love to know the year and location.

Of course , Those that use tobacco and snuff are reprobates and should not be affiliated with and should be put in the same category as the adulterer. I would almost bet that walking backward on the Sabbath is also prohibited in this church.

You can walk backwards any day of the week, but show some respect for other and swallow instead of spiting when you chew. Don't burn your tobacco or exhale your smoke any where near me, my family, my friends, my dog, my car, my property, or where I have to walk, shop, sit, stand, work, eat or sleep. Other than that you're free to chew and smoke yourself (and those you say you love) to death.

It could be a carnal (?) opinion, but I have been in or around the COG all my life. I have heard some very personal 'sarcasm' or 'instructions' that were called 'interpretations'. Directed at another individual.Even one calling a backslider to the alter that had already left the service with his wife 15-20 minutes before the person gave a message in tongues and then 'interpreted' it.I used to wonder how the Lord looked at these things.
