In different places, I'm seeing phrases such as God requires Christians to vote, or that voting is a Christian duty or some such. Can a Christian be a conscientious objector when it comes to voting?

I am with you. This argument goes with all of the other things that people claim that God requires...I'll stick with what He actually requires. It's enough to keep my plate full and to cause me to pound my chest, saying, God have mercy on me, a miserable sinner! Proverbs 3:5-6; John 13:34-35; Acts 1:8

Being salt and light in society IS a Christian's duty. That could include voting, but it might just as easily include not voting if the choice seems to be between Baal and Beelzebub.

Some on here would have you believe it is your Christian duty to vote for Trump.

Agreed. My grandparents never voted because they always felt it would violate their Christian conscience to vote for those who didn't align with biblical values. I don't think they were any less devoted to God or that they somehow failed to uphold their Christian duty. I plan to vote in this election and I'm voting for Trump. I may have to ask for forgiveness later
