Bonnie, sorry to be so long getting back. I had this same question posed to me by a teacher I regard highly. No idea why he asked me to look at it, he does not know there is an acts-celerate so the various posts about nudity had nothing to do with it. That is why I was curious about your thoughts, as I also regard you highly as a fellow searcher of scripture.Analytical Bob went to the same root that you did. Due to the oft focused upon story of Peter's denial which followed the scripture you sited, those words where Christ predicts correctly the dispersal of all his followers, and his notation of this having been prophesied (Zech 13:7) kind of just lays right out there in the open, but rarely commented on. We fuss at Peter, but at least he was there.I have read commentary that it was not uncommon for a man who was in his bed asleep, often naked (before fruit-of-the-loom), would rise with his bed clothes as covering and go see what some night-time disturbance was. I have my doubts that it was one of the disciples, since he is referred to as a follower of Christ rather than a disciple of Christ. But that is merely my sense of the matter, and my best effort to explain how I came to the conclusion.
