In my opinion, one of the BEST things this board does, is share the names of fellow ministers who have passed from this life to their eternal reward. It provides opportunity for viewers who knew them, to share what their life meant to them. However, when we started doing that, not everyone was happy about it.Not only was COG headquarters (at the time), slow to get going on the internet, in some cases, officials were openly hostile to it. The COG was a very tightly-controlled organization - nearly totally top-down in authority as it is now. Some officials then, did everything they could to stop people from posting on Actscelerate. Some preached against it at Camp Meeting which we especially appreciated because every time that happened, traffic here picked up dramatically. One called it Intellectual pornography. Wow. Traffic boomed after that. Evidently not many had seen anything intellectual before . Just kidding.We've never done any advertising whatsoever, but those who wanted to shut down a place of expression they didn't control, did it for us. Thank you.One claim then was that we were trying to puiblish an uuathorized news publicantion that they felt threatened the Evangel. At the time, since publishing a magazine is much more involved than placing something on the internet, it was taking the COG Evangel, in magazine form, five months before publishing the names of ministers who had passed.As Actscelerate viewers began publishing the news of minister friends of theirs passing, we began tacking those announcements at the top of Page One. We still do as an expression of honor for those who have labored in the Harvest with us.And as we knew those years ago, communication among COG people, especially those on the front lines in ministry, is a good thing. People who feel connected, are more apt to stay with the group to which they feel connected.That's my opinion. What's
