Camp meeting season is just around the corner. Camp meetings have changed so much since I was a youngster. Years ago, I noticed fewer and fewer laity attending. I missed last year, but the year before I would say it was about 90% ministers and their immediate families in attendance. Most of the preaching and teaching was aimed at encouraging weary pastors and strategies for church growth. None of those things are inherently bad. I have always enjoyed the fellowship aspect of camp meeting. But with the advent of social media, I don't have to wait a full year to see what's going on with my peers who are many miles away. Now I can see every time they check-in at Shoney's or the Waffle House.
