Question. If a young lady just became a Christian - and asked you how she should dress to please Christ (in that we all want to please Christ in all we do, right?) - what would you tell her?If a young man just became a Christian - and asked you how he should dress to please Christ (in that we all want to please Christ in all we do, right?) - what would you tell him?Would we tell her/him that Christ just doesn't care - you could walk around naked for all he cares - or would we tell them something different? If we would tell them something different - what would we tell them? Please don't debate (at first) on THIS thread - just tell us what YOU would say. Ignore, for now, what anyone else says

for a start I would say that the Bible says that a woman's hair should not look like a man and a man's hair should not be like a woman. I would explain that these instructions are not for salvation but are a shame before God

I have sat here trying to come up with verbage that I think would appropriately. But the best I can do is say amen to C6th. Mainly because I have met Godly women who dress contrary to my original concepts of 'moderate'. And I have found that the statement We all Know what that means doesn't fit, because we do not think alike. Some facts but mostly just my [email protected]/

It's a come as you are party. Modesty is useful and people figure it out when they see how others are dressed. The AG left legalism behind many moons ago as it all it does it hold people in bondage. Cleaning up tge outside but not the heart is phariseeism. Jesus as usual said it best in Mat 23:24 You blind guides, who strain out a gnat, and swallow a camel.25 Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites. For you clean the outside of the cup and of the plate, but within they are full of extortion and self-indulgence. j26 You blind Pharisee, first clean the inside of the cup, k that its outside may become clean also.27 “Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites. For you are like whitened tombs, which outwardly appear beautiful, but inwardly are full of dead men’s bones, and of all uncleanness.

If a young woman asks, this is key...it means she realizes there is a problem with her attire. A lot of people don't because how they dress is normal to them. Some young women also don't seem to realize that how they dress can be very provocative to a young man. Some women know exactly what they are doing, but others are completely clueless here.If a young woman asked, I would tell her not to let cleavage show and not to wear anything too short or too tight. Put on a piece of clothing and bend over. If something shows that shouldn't, don't wear it. I'd offer to help her if she so desired.Brotherjames is right that watching others will help her figure it out. She may not have anything other than what she normally wore. I have seen ladies in the church give clothing to someone struggling in this area, also. Of course, you should ask if they would be offended if you gave them some clothing, but most of the time, people are very thankful for that.Again, the key is...if she asks More of Him...less of me.twitter.com/camiracle77www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=691241499&ref=name

I would counsel either male or female to understand that upon accepting Christ they are now His representatives and as such should act accordingly in all things. Modesty is always the best path to follow, and so long as it's done out of love existing members should help them should specific questions arise.

Thanks for all your input. If elders are to instruct the younger folks in things - I suspect we need to have thought through an answer. In money, dress, time management, love - I think God has given each of us experience that we can use to help younger folks. It doesn't make sense that He would give us all this history - and then keep it all to ourselves...expecting the Holy Spirit to help them figure it all out...with no expectation that the Holy Spirit might speak through human beings.Like Michael W Smith's song says - God, why don't you send someone to help them - He said I did - I sent you

The reason I say to direct them to pray and ask God what modesty means is simply because there is no specific dress code in the New Testament, and, if it

You obviously don't know what 'antinomian' even means, if you think what I said is antinomian. It is the LAW of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus that sets us free from the law of sin and death. Rom. 8:1 There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.2 For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death.3 For what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin, condemned sin in the flesh:
