...those who’d been spanked just when they were young—ages 2 to 6—were doing a little better as teenagers than those who’d never been spanked. On almost every measure.A separate group of teens had been spanked until they were in elementary school. Their last spanking had been between the ages of 7 and 11. These teens didn’t turn out badly, either.Compared with the never-spanked, they were slightly worse off on negative outcomes, but a little better off on the good outcomes.

This is probably due to the fact that they have experienced a spanking in the past and know you will follow through on administering one, if necessary. Kids actually feel safer when they know where the boundaries are, and you & your wife have clearly established that for them. Good job More of Him...less of me.twitter.com/camiracle77www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=691241499&ref=name

I got my last spanking...at 21. Deserved it.As I did the hundreds before that one.Close as can be with my parents. Love them dearly, as they do me. That was just how it was done from their time and perspective.

I am not against corporal punishment, but I often witness it being used in a poor fashion, imo. When an adult hardly has any positive interaction with the kid and then loses his temper and smacks the kid and only ever tells the kid no, stop, or quit, it just breaks my heart for the kid.

Have you never been chastened by the Lord? I'd take a spanking ANY DAY over that. Also, consider that if you believe the Bible is inspired, that the Word speaks of using a rod to drive foolishness from the heart of a child. At the same time, I do hear you, my brother. If I had had to truly wear out my son, I guess I'd be in therapy today. I just am too tender-hearted for that.

We worked with a minister who taught, Let the punishment fit the crime. Is what the child did worth punishing? Was it an honest mistake or clumsiness? Was it just being a kid? (Hitting his brother) Being mischievous? Or was he being rebellious or mean? IMHO, the last two are the only ones that deserve real punishment. It also depends on the child. You can look at one child or give them a swat and reduce them to tears. Other kids might need a real spanking that will reduce them to tears and get their attention or take away their privileges (staying up late, taking away their phone privileges, etc.) And please don't make them read the Bible for punishment. What does that teach them? Our kids hated writing sentences 50 times or doing chores as punishment. Don't make punishment overly severe if it's a minor offense More of Him...less of me.twitter.com/camiracle77www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=691241499&ref=name
