With all of the talk about the old days of the COG, I thought I'd share. We visited a new, growing and vibrant church on Sunday. It is missions oriented, was mostly young families with children. They have filled their current building to capacity (about 125 in the sanctuary and about 50 kids or more in children's church). Its not so old fashioned that they sing from the red-back or Songs of The Spirit, but the pastor's wife who is 70+ did sing When My Savior Reached Down For Me, it was sweet and of course the young band couldn't find the chords at all (which is always funny to me). They have a brand new building they are building in the back that is already paid for! They were shouting, speaking in tongues, singing out loud in the congregation, all without any black paint on the walls, smoke machines or lasers! Just a lot of love for each other and for what the Lord is doing there! It took us 15 minutes to leave the building after the service ended because we had to wait in line to greet and hug the pastors and elders. It was very refreshing. I've seen members of the church out in the community praying for their meals in public, talking about the Lord, just really living it out! (you tend to notice simple things like that these days when you feel like you're the only one who does it anymore).
