If Russia is a threat, then we created that threat with our insistence on fighting Assad instead of ISIS. Obama has this nutty idea that we must first topple Assad, install the moderates, and then go after ISIS. He sees Assad and ISIS as moral equivalents. Yeah, this approach has worked out well in other Arab Spring countries, huh?Putin has sense enough to see that secular dictatorships are the best we can hope for in that region. We allied ourselves with right wing dictators in Latin America during the Cold War against the Soviets. What then is wrong with being allied with secular dictators in the middle east against ISIS? We missed a golden chance to get concessions from Assad by promising to keep him from be overthrown by ISIS. Sorry, but Russia is no threat here. They are using the right approach.
