To me, these actions of ministers who have been caught in sexual sin should raise red flags: a person who has been caught in a sexual sin tries to minimize the gravity of the sina person who tries to throw the other person(s) involved under the busa person who does not want to take personal responsibility for his actionsa person who wants there to be no negative consequence (labels the negative consequences attacks from Satan)sees no need to step away from leadership positionsAlso, these actions from the minister's supporters should raise red flags:demands that there be no negative consequences for the minister (throwing around words like forgiveness and restoration with the only accountability being the word of the minister who just got caught lying)more thought for public image of the church than the well being of victims in the case of sexual abusesin leveling, e.g., you are just as guilty as the minister who just had affairs with 5 women in the congregation because you had lustful thoughts one day last year or because you gossiped or because you didn't pray enough for said minister

I think these tendencies exist, regardless of the type of sin/immorality.

I remember well at JSM in the Spring of '88. One line that got slung around like a dog's chew toy was Satan is attacking this ministry like never before.

I completely agree with you about the arrogance. I was born into the COG and many of my family are in the COG. I have had kin folks in the ministry as long as I can remember. Several good pastors two advanced to Overseers and two (that pastored large churches) who failed thru adultery. One of those left the COG and formed a successful independent work, he was very arrogant. The other was also arrogant but did go thru the church discipline procedure, but stated I will get a church, But I will not take just anything. One statement I heard so often, David committed adultery, even murder and was a man after God's own heart.My thoughts to that were 'Did you ever save a nation and slay a Giant? or if it was the adultery that made him a man after God's own heart, maybe we all should try it.'YES, to the comments of the number of victims, it is terrible. It takes a toll on the parents, church, family and as Eddie commented, especially the ones who were won to the Lord.But come to think of it, the act of adultery by a minister is ARROGANT in itself.
