I wonder why some people would rather ride in my tail pipe than pass. Once, I was coming around the Beltline in Raleigh, and there were lanes to my left for folks that wanted to pass, but a woman got right behind me (with less than 2 seconds between us). I eased off the accelerator. I guess she WONDERED why I was slowing down. I wondered why it didn't occur to her to use another lane. Then I wondered how much I would have to slow down before she would pass. I don't wonder that anymore because I tried it. I had to slow down to about 10 mph below the speed limit before she would pass!Recently, I was headed out to the grocery store on a state highway. Kind of rural, but a reasonable amount of traffic. A car blew up behind me like they were headed to a fire. I figured in they were in such a big hurry I would let them pass when I got to the passing zone. I slowed down and moved as far right in my lane as I could. Still they wouldn't pass. Fine, if I have to pull over to let them around, I would do it. I had to practically stop. Then they tooted the horn like they still couldn't figure out what to do. I wondered if they were on drugs or if they were too narrow minded to figure out what to do if they wanted to go faster than the car in front of them.
