Brother Hester was responsible for my joining the COG. He was a powerfully anointed Minister of the Gospel of Christ! Despite his health issues, he had a wonderful outlook on life. His family was in total support of him. I first met him in 1987 when I attended his church. My wife and I were members of his church for 10 years. It took him that long to convince me to get a license in the COG. When I became the Pastor at New Covenant in Mcdonough, he came by my office one day and we had a wonderful visit. He reminded me of a conversation he and I had several years before. I had left the UPC a couple years before I had met him, and he was always asking me to preach for him. When I finally agreed to fill in for him, I told him I will never preach anything that would bring harm or division in his church. As he sat in my office with me this great Man of God,gave me the most humbling compliment. He said, Spencer, you are a man of your word! You never gave a message to my church that brought harm or division. He was my Pastor and the Pastor to my family. We loved him dearly
