For those of a certain age, you will recall there was a time when T.L. Lowery was the most well-known evangelist of our denomination. His reach was beyond the walls of the denomination. It seems that jealousy began to arise in the ranks of the higher-ups.I cannot recall the wording of the matter, but it seems that it was somehow expressed that T. L. Lowery needed to come under the authority of the Church of God instead of being, I suppose, an apparent lone ranger out on the evangelism frontier.Unbelievably, T.L. humbly complied. This would be near-unimaginable today, I think. But God blessed him for that. He eventually became the pastor of North Cleveland, later National Church of God--both mega churches. He became a great force in Church of God leadership. At the same time, his own personal ministry continued to abound.
