We needed a vacation, so we picked the Lynchburg VA area. I had NO idea how big Liberty University is. Did you know in size it is #7 in the USA? I was shocked.(No one has asked to preach there yet, but I still have feelers out!) We have criss-crossed VA for a few years and never stopped at Appomattox. For my entire knowing life I thought that General Lee surrendered the Army of Northern VA in the courthouse in Appomattox. This old man was very surprised to know he has been very wrong. There is a community outside Appomattox called: Appomattox Court House. The trick historians used on me was courthouse is one word. The community is Court House. Named that because the Appomattox County Courthouse was there.Anyway, we visited Mr. & Mrs McLean’s home where the surrender was signed. Even 150 years later I felt a bit of the sadness a General must feel as he signs a paper saying, I surrender.Have you ever fought a battle and had to surrender? I have several in my life. But the only surrender that did not cost me was when I really surrendered to my Lord. As I walked those grounds I thought in my case the WINNER was the one who had suffered, When Lee surrendered he was saying I (we) lost.In my case when I surrendered, I won! Now isn’t that GOOD!For you guys from Virginia, I am enjoying learning more of your history, this is a great state. ________________Some facts but mostly just my [email protected]/

Thanks BB and truly enjoyed our visit to Passion Community Church, at your suggestion. Mike is doing a fantastic job as far as I could tell. I was a little disappointed he did not preach the AM service, but the Associate did a fantastic job. Will keep the offer in mind my friend. I always enjoy and appreciate your input here on this forum! ________________Some facts but mostly just my [email protected]/
