How far have we distance ourselves
For the most part the CofG has become so like minded with the world that its getter hard to tell to see a difference.
Does the appearance of overseer ‘ s wives indicates how far
Brother Page I would say that overseer’s wives is a big indication, after they are leaders in the Church and should lead by Biblical Standards.
True but it depends upon what is meant by holiness. True holiness is achieved through intimacy or union with Christ and bearing the fruit of the Holy Spirit in our life. The religious people of Jesus day accused Him of lacking holiness.
About 16 ad they dropped their practical commentiments and holiness was secret of the heart that only God knows
When I was a boy(58 years ago) I was sitting on a park bench with my older brother and we watched people past by and he could always pick out CofG people from others. When I asked how he could tell, he said by the way they dress.
Charles the reason they dropped the practical commitments was so they could claim to be holy without really being so.
The sad fact is that Church History teaches us that God never one time has revived a church. He simply starts new ones. That is why we have so many denominations. And most generally, Church History reveals that churches change when they turn 100 years old. It seems that history continues to repeat itself and men never learn. By the way, the CoG was founded in August 1886 and in August 1986 (100 years later), the CoG did away with all of its Practical Teachings that related to Holiness.
Amen, Brother.
Yes my friend you are so very right, when they voted to do away with the practical commitments the CofG began to go down the slippery slope of compromise at a wreck neck speed.
I was there in 1986 and saw it all.
That was the second year of our pastoral ministry
