Each church is incorporated so it prevents General Hdgts from getting sued if something goes wrong at the local church. However, each local church must insert that their property still belongs to General Hdqtrs. The CoG several years ago, when Ray H Hughes was still alive, at a General Assembly, they had a major discussion about accepting independent churches who wished to be a part of the CoG, but wanted to retain their own property. It failed to pass by a narrow margin; however, I believe it passed a few years later.
Yes they can. The property of Mount Paran is deeded to Mount Paran Chruch of God Inc and their pastor Paul Walker served as General Overseer.

Melvin, no such statement of Mount Paran’s deed. I went to the county seat and looked up their deed myself in 1990.
Melvin, don’t you think it is the other way around? The local churches are protecting themselves from Headquarters and any major decisions of the denomination.
