Does not seem to be emphasized like it once was, at least to me. It seems if I remember correctly, that various ones took it after Carl Richardson, who seemed to have dropped out of sight and then Charles Page, our fellow student at Lee College, Loran Livingston who had the Central Church in Charlotte, NC then began to be its speaker. But, again to me, Forward In Faith has never become like it was under Carl Richardson.
I believe it was in the late 1950s, maybe early 1960s when Dr Ray H Hughes, Sr was the preacher for Forward In Faith. Forward In Faith at that time produced a 45 RPM record with Bro Hughes preaching two sermons on it. The first side was his sermon, SOCIAL SINS and the second side was entitled, CALVARY. In Hughes’ SOCIAL SINS sermon, he preached hard against the evils of alcohol and the drinking of wine. He also preached hard against something that many CoG preachers and nearly all CoG members do today and that is attending MOVIES. I was so impressed with Hughes’ SOCIAL SINS sermon so much that as a very young boy, I memorized it word for word. I still have these sermons today. Later, Carl Richardson made them available through his monthly offers.
Floyd Timmerman did a,tremendous job with Forward In Faith, too. But the original speaker was Earl Paulk, Jr. who not only did the broadcast but also pastored the Hemphill Avenue Church of God in Atlanta at the time. Hemphill Avenue was moved to its present location by Paul L. Walker in the late 60s.
Listened this week to L. Livingston on FIF, his message on the build up of hate in America was very timely. He referenced the hate mongering of Trump ( though not by name ).
