I’m wondering why the schedule men’s fellowship meetings for early in the morning. Around here, one is at 7 AM. I hardly get enough sleep. I don’t think it’s wise to get up that early on the Shabbat, at that, instead of getting some sleep on the one morning I can sleep in. Maybe the guys who schedule these things don’t have to work late all the time and regularly get enough rest. Does anyone know what is behind this tradition________________
Re: Why are Saturday men’s meeting so early.
LOL
Link,Perhaps brotherjames great attitude will encourage you to attend the next men’s ministry event at your church________________
NBF, that one is insightful As my brother in law would say, Well I’ll be dogged! If it is to keep from interfering with the Christian mans work day, for me it could be held late at night. Now seriously, there are men who thrive on and take pride in, arising early, it is natural for them. There are those of us who are up until 1-3AM and prefer to sleep in. I am not a MORNING person, and many folk are not. The morning folk I know personally, are in bed at 9-10PM every night.C6th said it right, They don’t want him there and he accommodates them.________________Some facts but mostly just my /
Obviously, I don’t attend men’s meetings, but I pretty much have the same policy. If it happens early on Saturday morning, I won’t be there. It’s the only day I have to sleep in and I am NOT NOT NOT a morning person________________More of Him…less of me.twitter.com/camiracle77www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=691241499&ref=name

I think NBF was exhibiting his snarky side as I was perhaps a bit harsh in my comments towards the OP.
False dichotomy.Staying in bed
I submit that I have and many of my friends have managed to get up early Saturday morning in order to make a 7:30 or 8 am tee time. Just sayin…
Link doesn’t strike me as someone who is trying to get out of keeping spiritual things a high priority. From what I get from his posts, he is very busy with job, ministry, and a young family.
Now anyone who is —– enough to get up to play golf, but miss a fellowship, dem guys is sinning BIG TIME!Now for us who ain’t golfers anyway, The sleep is for health reasons ONLY.
quote=brojames]the idea is to get you there early, feed you and minister to you and get you back home before the day is too far gone so you can do what you need to at home or with your family. The food usually gets you there and if you can’t take one early saturday out of your busy schedule to fellowship with the other brothers and be encouraged in the Word, then I guess you can stay in bed and miss a good time. Your choice.
Would you happen to be responsible for setting the time for your local men’s meeting at 7 AM or earlier? I’m also curious. Do you happen to get a good 7 or 8 hours of sleep a nigh all throughout the week?I don’t think it is unspiritual to rest on the Sabbath.
I always think the high energy level people who require little sleep are like the Levite who said to his concubine, Up, and let us be going, oblivious to the fact that she lay dead on the threshold.
It is vain for you to rise up early, to sit up late, to eat the bread of sorrows; for so he giveth his beloved sleep.Psalm 127:2
The admonition, yea the warning, from the wisest man who ever lived, King Solomon, who reproved slothfulness and then tells us this in Proverbs 6How long wilt thou sleep, O sluggard? when wilt thou arise out of thy sleep?10 Yet a little sleep, a little slumber, a little folding of the hands to sleep:11 So shall thy poverty come as one that travelleth, and thy want as an armed man.
