All of us in ministry, deal at times with end-of-life issues, some with those whom we love with all our heart, and others who we may have met only a short time before they die.Hospital and Hospice Chaplains obviously deal with more of it. It doesn’t happen at this pace every day, but in one day, I rushed with other staff to answer five different Code Blue announcements. I have been in ministry since 17 years old but until the past two years, had never seen a Code Blue.That’s when a patient goes into Cardiac Arrest (The heart stops) and assigned hospital staff rush from all over the facility to make a life-and-death effort to get the patient’s heart started again. Some years ago, it was noted that there are over 600 different groups using the name Church of God. For example, during the Holiness Movement in the 1800’s, there was a Church of God started in Anderson, IN. In 1886 (name changed in 1906) there was the Church of God in NC/TN. The different Church of God groups are more or less known by their location. This distinguishes each Church of God group from the others. For example, there is the Church of God (Anderson, IN and Church of God (Cleveland, TN). Many in the Church of God (Cleveland, TN) tend to think that they are the only ones with the title Church of God, which is not so. The title Church of God is one that is listed in the New Testament. “Unto the Church of God at Corinth. . .” We are to “take heed to feed the Church of God which He hath purchased with His own blood.” Individuals who have known nothing except Church of God (Cleveland, TN) do not realize that many independent churches also use the name Church of God. The strange fact is that there are many local Church of God (Cleveland, TN) churches that are using names other than Church of God. It is almost like they are ashamed to use the term Church of God. They tend to think that more people will attend their churches if they do not belong to the Church of God (Cleveland, TN) denomination.
Not ashamed here…we have over 70k pl. that pass our church daily…we have 39k feet of frontage on I – 75 south with 4 ft. letters on the end of our building
