I don’t mow grass on Sundays because I know my neighbors would take offense and view it as disrespectful to God. But I don’t believe there is any biblical support for Sabbath-observance binding upon New Testament Christians. No one really keeps the Sabbath as defined in the Bible anyway. Folks didn’t go to church on the Sabbath day in the OT. The same ones who would cry foul over mowing a lawn on Sunday would think nothing of having their wives slave over a hot stove cooking their meal and cleaning up after them.Not to mention, even in my old age, I’d be afraid my dad would ride by and catch me

I have been in many SS classes where the discussions run amuck (Even happens quite often here!), and in many ways folk were taught! I have been in many SS classes where the discussions run amuck (Even happens quite often here!), and in many ways folk were taught! Probably in this case maybe some eyes were opened. There was nothing cheap about it.These folks don’t understand:a. The Sabbath.b. That we are not under law.c. How Jesus fulfilled the law.These are pretty basic concepts. I use opportunities like this as teaching points with my children and people in a church setting. If we don’t use situations like this as indicators of areas where teaching is needed, we will still be debating this issues 2,000 after the cross. 15 years after the cross, the apostles were still debating whether Gentiles had to be circumcised to be saved…it wasn’t a cheap shot to see that Paul had work to do teaching them about the new covenant. Whenever it needs it,irregardless of the day of the week. I would ask a follow up question to your study group: suppose it had rained for several days in a row and the forecasts were calling for one clear day,which just happened to be Sunday. It’s supposed to start raining again Sunday afternoon so your one window to mow is Sunday morning. Do you miss church to mow? If you’re the pastor,of course you can’t, but would you excuse your congregants from church________________“Hell will be filled with people that didn’t cuss, didn’t drink, and may even have been baptized. Why? Because none of those things makes someone a Christian.”
